About Us
Trenton Professional Oldtimers (TPOTNJ) is a Liberian-based community organization located in the Trenton, New Jersey area, dedicated to strengthening cultural identity, supporting elders, empowering youth, and fostering unity among Liberians and the broader community. Our programs emphasize intergenerational connection, respect for elders, cultural preservation, and mutual support during both celebratory and challenging life events.
Our Bus Project
The Bus Project is a community transportation initiative designed to support elders, families, and youth by providing safe, organized group transportation to cultural events, community functions, educational trips, recreational outings, and organizational activities. This program reduces transportation barriers—particularly for elders with limited mobility—while promoting participation, social engagement, and cultural connectedness throughout the Trenton area and beyond.

Soccer Program
The Soccer program promotes physical health, teamwork, leadership, and unity among youth and adults. Through organized practices, friendly matches, and community tournaments, participants develop discipline, cooperation, and positive social connections. Elders are encouraged to participate as mentors, advisors, and supporters, reinforcing intergenerational engagement and strengthening community pride through sport.

Back to School Program
The Back to School program supports children and families by providing essential school supplies, backpacks, uniforms, and educational resources. This initiative helps reduce financial barriers while reinforcing the importance of education and academic success. Elders play an important role by offering mentorship, encouragement, and cultural guidance to students and families as they prepare for the school year.

Visitation
The Visitation program reflects TPOTNJ’s deep commitment to community care, solidarity, and cultural responsibility. This program provides organized visits and outreach to elders and members during:
-
Periods of celebration (births, graduations, weddings, milestones)
-
Times of illness or hospitalization
-
Periods of bereavement and loss
Through home visits, hospital visits, and community outreach, members offer companionship, emotional support, cultural connection, and practical assistance. This program helps reduce isolation, reinforces communal bonds, and upholds Liberian traditions of standing together in both joy and hardship.

Hall Project
The Hall Project focuses on developing and maintaining a central community gathering space that serves elders, families, and youth. This space is used for cultural celebrations, elder forums, educational workshops, youth programs, community meetings, and social events. The Hall Project ensures TPOTNJ has a safe, accessible venue to preserve Liberian culture, foster unity, and support meaningful community engagement.

Next Project (Future Community Initiatives)
The Next Project represents TPOTNJ’s commitment to growth and responsiveness to evolving community needs. Guided by community input and elder leadership, this initiative supports the development of future programs focused on:
-
Elder support and wellness
-
Youth mentorship and leadership development
-
Cultural preservation and education
